Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile

When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle - a singing crocodile who loves baths, caviar and great music-living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps, the Primm’s must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Such a sucker for musicals
I loved this movie!!! It takes a little time to get moving, but once you meet Lyle and you get to know him and the family, it is a magnificent movie with a fantastic happy ending.

You have great character development and a serious dose of how reality can really kick you in the teeth sometimes, but also how it can still become a happy ending and new beginning!

The music was so well-crafted and picked, I wouldn't change the songs or the story. The CG isn't overly real, so you never forget that you're looking at a CG crocodile, but you also honestly don't care, because he still feels like he's in every shot.

If you love sappy musicals and you're a total animal lover, this will be a fun movie for you that tugs at the heart strings!

Great, relatable but the final scene felt forced. Shawn can sing amazingly but not ideal for the voice casting for lyle.
The storyline reminded me of old school family friendly movies like from fox, disney & wb. It was about 2 different characters with social anxieties coming together to support each other in doing something they never expected to do. And there were 2 overprotective characters as well but not the main focus.

The graphics quality and scenes were amazing. Great scores and the mood setup was terrific. Most of the casts were great but for me, Javier Bardem playing Hector was the best despite having a short screen time. Great representation of POC.

Meanwhile, the worst part of the movie was the voice casting, especially for the younger lyle. It was awful. Shawn mendes sounded literally the same throughout the movie despite having different timelines.

Not a huge fan of musical but this was great. The musics were great. Shawn can really sing well and have a great singing voice. Just not suitable for voice overs. Recommended.

    Too recipe driven
Cute but not snappy I felt it needed more substance.

It was ok as a 'me too musical' but it sort of lacked the X factor. So felt rather flat.

I also felt the cast were somewhat wrong. I can't put my finger in why... but they just came acriss as two dimensional

There are some reasonable musical numbers. But even they felt repetitive

This movie could have worked with a better script. More catchy numbers and a different cast

On the other hand it may be ok as as an afternoon movie for young kids.

If that doesn't match your needs I would suggest trying something than appeals to be the contemporary as well as reptilian mindset.

    Amazing Movie, Nice Music 💚
Singing Crocodile, a little sad. Cute & funny. Great Acting. Family friendly good for son & mom.

Characters in film are very good. Entertaining & sweet. Good holiday film. Great for movie night.

We missed this in the theater and happy to see it on demand. Amazing Movie, Nice Music 💚 We liked it so much we are writing a review. As always Javier Bardem is great, Lyle the Crocodile is a great, realistic and a touching character. We give the movie a WOW because it's so good. We like everything about it. The soundtrack and singing is good. We like the setting in New York. The underling story is important for everyone and relatable.

    Singing Crocodile
It's kinda hard to believe that something who can sing, can't talk, when it can clearly understand the language. But seeing how it's based on a children's book, I won't make a fuss about it. Especially when the story is exceptional and heartwarming. When I read the synopsis, I was intrigued. So, I decided to watch it. And I don't regret it at all. As a musical, it has quite a few good songs. And Shawn Mendes is obviously the right choice to play Lyle. And even though I really wish Lyle can talk, cause it can make the comedy part even better, but I can guarantee that you won't regret watching this movie. Especially with your family.

    Great Family Movie
This movie was well done. My kids loved it. It is great for kids 2 and up. The singing and dancing was entertaining and well done. The store line was easy to follow and made sense. It's difficult to find a family friendly movie and this is one to watch to see. The message it delivers is that a family can work together and how just one member of the house can encourage others to excel. Hardships are there, but Lyle gave this family a chance to over come the stress of life, new friendships are made, and see the potential of others. Lyle also gets a new family that loves him and learns how to find his place in life.

    A clever, triple-digit, feel-good movie
What's not to love about this film? Pure fun and great entertainment. Lots of unexpected twists and turns, and great acting. Winslow. Fegley is a refreshing new face in the world of cinema, and Constance Wu is wonderful as his worried mother. But whenever Javier Barden's in a scene, he explodes with life and energizes the entire story. Who knew he was a triple threat - dancing, singing, while portraying a great lovable rascal in this movie? This is as as good as The Greatest Showman, with the addition of a singing, dancing, but otherwise shy crocodile whose love language is. . . Food! If you missed this on the big screen, you missed seeing a classic in the making. I don't understand why the Box Office is so low, even though the film's been out for three weeks, as I write this. All I can guess is that Sony didn't market t as well as they should, so most folks thought, "Well, I've read the book, so why see the movie? WRONG!" Do yourself a favor and watch this film with people you love. It will leave you feeling free and wonderful. And make you want to celebrate for the rest of the day. How I wish there were more films like this one to revel in!
