An enjoyable take on an old favourite....

I had a very negative connotation about going into this film hence why my review is coming months after it's release. Why did I have negative feeling about this film? I thought it was just another money grab from Disney to put a new twist on an old favourite. This was based off the description and picture that shows up on Disney+ when you click the movie. However, after having watched the film, I regret having these sort of thoughts. Here's why I think you should watch it....

Unlike Steve Martin's "Cheaper by the Dozen" (2003) which aims for comedy. This CBTD aims for story, personality, and comedy. Each child has their own personality that I think pops a lot better than those in 2003. They felt more exciting and unique, and less like cardboard. The comedy didn't feel forced. There were Hi-lariours moments, but there were moments that genuinely lighthearted and fun. The story was good, but I think the film could've been longer to get the emotional aspect out. Emotions and/or scenes felt rushed which made the moment either too fleeting to care about, or they were so quick that I wanted more time to appreciate it.

If you look at the reviews of the film it's been rated very low because people have an idea of what a "Cheaper by the Dozen" film looks like. In the strictest sense, this is not it, but a fresher take on the name is sometimes needed for a person to realize how much they love an original, or it'll make them realize that there can be more than one view and it can be decent.

Overall, this film grew on me for it's nearly two hour run time. I enjoyed the comedy that was offered. I enjoyed the story that was offered, albeit a bit rushed. I enjoyed the energy of the characters. I truly think that if you haven't checked this film out yet you should give it a chance. Don't expect spectacular, but I don't think you should expect mediocrity either.

Thank you for reading my review. Until next time.... Enjoy the show!

Should be called woke by the dozen
Literally everything that would cater to the woke - right from the beginning of Bark Obama and Joe Biten (lame even my kid didn't laugh). I love Zach Braff, he deserves better. Every single stereotype had to be added to this film that its embarrassing.

    Don't believe the negative reviews
So before I watched the movie, I read most of the reviews which were pretty bad. But being a huge scrubs fan, I just had to check out Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union. I went in with an open mind anyways. I found the movie wholesome and fun for the entire family. Don't get me wrong, it won't win any oscars but it was nice to see a modern remake from a different angle. It probably just got bad reviews because it's a remake of a beloved movie. I highly recommend it for a family night though.
