    A beautiful film!
Fresh faces set In a Russian story beautifully told. Very romantic and wonderfully casted! A different country telling a story in a different language we can very much relate to. Beautifully filmed on what appears to be an iced lake. Can't wait to watch this again!

A Russian movie with Disney vibes
In late 19th century Russia, ice-skating courier Matvey (Fyodor Fedotov), who just unfairly lost his job, joins a group of revolutionary thieves who dare him to climb up an aristocratic family's balcony that happens to adjoin the room of Alice (Sonya Priss), the daughter of the family. Thus did these two young people from different sides of the tracks meet.

But this movie is not all about romance. It has action (mostly on skates) as well as socio-economic, political and girl empowerment messages. With beautiful winter scenes of St Petersburg as a backdrop, it gives off a Disneyesque atmosphere. It feels like a combination of Nutcracker, Oliver Twist and Downton Abbey.

    Likeable!
End of the XIX century Russian fairy tale in which two people from different social classes meet... one is an ice skating gang member who robs people for living, another one is a princess who reads "The Capital" from Karl Marx, and her father is legally robbing people... while his police beats those who complain!

The cinematography of Russian winter atmosphere was absolutely fabulous. Well developed, fast paced, extra long, historically accurate as it could be, with a touch of the feminist developing at that time around the Court...

Love story in a different setting and with a surreal feeling for most of us who rarely see snow. Beautiful!
