Good retelling but lacking as a musical.
For the story as a retelling, it did enough different to other Christmas movies to feel worthwhile watching and coupled with the great comedic chemistry between the cast it was a fun watch.

What truly left me feeling as though this film would never be revisited was the lack of diversity in the songs. Every musical number felt the same as the last and with the constant shots of the same tap dancing, it felt very repetitive. Visually it was very eye catching, the comedy landed, the acting was solid from all involved and the story had a nice spin on the old tale, but unfortunately as a musical this felt very flat.

    Really quite awesome!
I'm grateful I gave this movie a chance, as a fan of both Reynolds and Ferrell. There is an abundance of singing (in the best way). I enjoyed the storyline, an oldie with a creative twist. The acting was good and I thought the chemistry between Ryan and Will was ideal. This movie was really great, I am a fan of musicals and loved the storytelling of the songs. Spirited exceeded my expectations really - the humor is felt through out and I appreciated the modern day twist of a timeless Christmas classic. I was so impressed with the performances of all characters, the singing and dancing was exciting and I didn't find it to be corny or obnoxious like some reviewers. If you enjoy music and Ryan Reynolds + Will Ferrel's humor, you will love this movie. Happy Holidays!

    Revive the old soul
Ok it has a lot of music and dance though its Revive the old soul , morality , values is not things we can see in comidy movie today , I not say that i love this class but it has been so long that i haven't pick this taste in such a pretty good effort .

Ryai reynold man i love your works i don't know how or who you are in your life but that selfish clent who make allways the setuation for him self though the best thing that i love about him is his best Christmas, thats make me really was disappointed when they give the child that present his past the puppy .

Thank you for Reading this With all my regards MR. Amg.

    Such a good feeling
I really enjoyed this. Not normally a fan of Will Ferrell, as I struggle with his humour, but this one was spot on for me.

The actors had real chemistry, and I'd say they a lot of fun filming this, and it shows with the energy in it. Great choice of ensemble.

Catchy music. Good dancing, and from what I saw both Ryan and Will held their own.

Watched it twice now, and I think it's in my top 10 Christmas movies now.

It's light hearted, and fun. And I'm loving the trend of bring back musicals. It's great.

I appreciate not everyone will love this, but give it a chance, and you may well enjoy it.

    A musically warped "Cmas Carol"
"Spirited" (11/18/22, 120 mins, Apple+) stars Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds in a definitely different take on the Cmas classic. This could've been something you'd want to see annually but it's warped by Hollywood's liberal/progressive values yet again, but if you're under the age of 25 you probably don't even know or care. Anyway, the storytelling is further marred by it being a musical, and even that's forced. It's mostly karaoke-quality singing especially when done by Will and Ryan and even the characters often exclaim "oh no, not another one." Will Ferrell, sporting a facelift, seems to be the only one decently cast for this. Ryan is way over-qualified and Octavia Spencer - just how did they talk her into her role?! Again, this could've been Great with better casting and much less singing.

Good afternoon! (it makes sense at around 59:00)
'Spirited' tells the story of the Christmas Past (Sunita Mani), Present (Will Ferrell), and Yet-To-Come (Tracy Morgan) - three ghosts who attempt to sway misanthropic jerks of their selfish ways in the span of one Christmas night. When Present becomes set on showing Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) the error of his ways, the story takes a strange turn: can a 200 year old ghost really change a corporate dick?

First, not a huge fan of musicals, but this one is kind of amusing. The film is largely based on the Ebenezer Scrooge story from Charles Dickens, 'A Christmas Carol', and often is self-aware that it is a musical. The script is solid and the flow is decent, but most of the focus is on the two main leads, leaving very little of the supporting cast to explore. Overall, a worthwhile seasonal film to share with the older children.

    Worth a watch!

    Very disappointing movie
This was extremely disappointing. This is not a movie. Literally the entire thing is just a musical. There is a 4:1 ratio of musical scenes to real movie scenes. This actually put me in a bad mood watching it. Will Ferrell has been one of my favorite actors since a very young age. I have named 4 different dogs after different characters he has played (Buddy, Brennan, Jackie, and Ricky). The role of Will Ferrell's Character in Spirited was not one that he does well in. Same with Ryan Reynolds. If musicals are your preferred genre of movie, maybe this movie could be semi interesting to you. But even if musicals are your preferred genre, this movie still lacks a decent plot and character buildup.

It's a musical, you'll love it if you're in the mood
The story is actually clever and well-written, with a good dose of comedy and heart to boot. Will Ferrel has further cemented himself in our Christmas lore, and his chemistry with Ryan Reynolds is energetic and fun. They could have cut a few songs; despite the film's self-awareness and tongue-in-cheek approach to the singing and dance numbers, it lagged in the beginning. They saved some of the better songs for the end, and the plot gets moving about halfway through. Bottom line, the musical numbers are a few too numerous and not particularly memorable, but aside from that you'll be pleasantly surprised by this flick. I will be watching it again at some point.

    Great Xmas movie
One of the most decent roles of Ferel in a long time! The songs and be dancers were amazing!

At the beginning I was reluctant because I really don't like musicals but as the movie progressed it turned out to be bery clever and enjoyable!!!

Will Ferel keeps it simple, not overacting and screaming as he usually does in his movies and the result is surprisingly original and fresh!

Reynolds acts nicely without swearing like a truck driver!

The supporting characters have depth and are not there just to fill up space.

The choreography is really impressive and the lyrics are not corny. It is an expensive production and it shows.

    Overall great production!

Classic, musical, funny, shiny, a little scary - what is it?
It has almost everything in it. It's a musical but not because some songs get interrupted to make it look not like a musical. It's supposed to be a comedy loosely based on a classic story with some scary elements (little kids may not like this). I think that the makers tried to combine too much in this movie and it becomes not only too complicated at some points but also my mind cannot settle for the "right" feeling. If you feel confused by my review, so was I with this movie. The actors did a good job and the tricks, singing and dancing were great. Not a movie that I need to see again though. I prefer Elf.
