    not believable but thrilling
Beast was not a very believable movie. In terms of how idris elba can survive the attack he does and come out almost virtually unarmed. And secondly the acting itself felt out of place. So we have elba as dr nick. He and his two daughters are going to take a trip to south africa as a bit of a bonding trip they dont really seem all that hyped but his mate david is there to show them around. But before they go we get a cutscene begin with some poachers attacked by a very angry lion. Of course you already know the deal and you can telll nick and his daughters will be fighting for survival against the beast that does not let up. The characters are written pretty dumb, acting bad in places but overall an enjoyable thriller watch for what it is.

    Annoying older daughter
I couldn't stand the foolish older daughter at all! A whole beast attacks and she she goes 'wat just happened' čśů. Loose acting, lack of common sense ie; wouldn't you close the car window when a lion is coming to attack or if you are in a dangerous area?

Guess not for the folks in this movie.

    Very annoying to watched !

Once again, the kids were the worst and I would have fed the frustrated angry older daughter to the lions instead.

Always angry, bitter (excuse is she is a teenager and grieving her mums loss is just nonsense.

This movie lacks quick thinking, a believable story line and genuine acting.

Not even Idris can save this mess
Horrible, horrible and horrible. The acting was atrocious, phoney family ties. Those daughters need to find another career now, save us from their strained, read straight from a cuecard acting. And Idris....why???? Do you need money that badly?

Who wrote this terrible script, he needs another line of work, too.

And Copley...he is the highest paid actor in South Africa!? He was so good in District 9 but this?? Why did you do this!?

I am glad I did not pay for this hot mess. As one fellow said, did the director and writers think we, the viewers, not know anything about cats and their big cousins?

Please do not watch this...life is short.

    Why oh Why??!!
Wow! A perfect example of a movie that leaves every character without common sense.

I felt bad for Idris Elba being in this movie. He is so much better than this.

The writing is like a high school play. You are forced to sit through it, doesn't make sense, and the use of blooper footage so they wouldn't have to reshoot.

This truly shows what kids are like today. 1. Don't pay attention to their surroundings and 2. Act as if they know how and what to do only to make things worse.

I made my way watching the entire movie and caught myself rooting for the lion. I wished death for all the characters and the lion fulfilled its destiny.

Time I will never get back
Not sure what prompted me to start watching this (wish I hadn't) but I fell asleep on it once & had to come back the next day to finish watching it.

To me, it came off like it wanted to be an updated version (with a twist) of, 'The Ghost & the darkness' but was not executed quite as nicely.

Everyone made decisions that weren't realistic. Acting was mediocre. The daughters were borderline annoying.

Was not the best film for Idris Elba but I guess it was a paycheck for him.

I recommend watching something else & avoiding this disaster of a movie. If you wanted a good movie about lions killing people for no reason check out, The Ghost and the darkness. Now that, is an excellent movie.

    Not great
Hubby and I decided to watch tonight. Love the main character, but the girls that play his daughters - beyond annoying!! During the movie we just kept saying shut-up, just shut up. The girls ruined the movie with their nonstop talking and doing everything they were told not to. Honking the horn, making so much noise when told to be quiet. Wandering off in remote areas, good grief. I get the movie was supposed to show the girls their mothers heritage, but seriously! Constantly arguing with each other and their dad. Brats!! Don't waste your time. So glad we watched on HBO and not in the theater!

Ever watch a movie that was so bad it's good?
Do I have the movie for you. Disclaimer, I suggest seeing this movie high AF. Once I took about 4 rips this movie instantly turned into a comedy classic.

Funny enough the movie has some decent acting, Elba did he best not to commit entertainment suicide and gave it his all in this one and I can't say I blame him. This is one of those movies that could instantly subdue your career. In reality the movie is a huge disaster, nothing makes sense, what's up is down, and I found myself actually rooting for the lion to win. This movie could have been great if it had some grit and some element of scare. But it fails on all those fronts and it ends up just being cheesy.

An extra star just for Idris Elba
Wow!!! So sooooo sooooooo stupid. I would beat my kids if they didn't listen like these dumb as female kids did.

Note to self and to all, never everrrrr bring women to , well, basically anywhere. Every decision these idiots made were just the dumbest ever and makes you wonder how they could even survive a day in Beverly Hills or even just going to a G rated movie during the day.

If you want a great Lion movie, watch Ghost in the darkness. I love both main actors but this movie was so very bad. I mean yes I watched the whole thing but mainly in hopes that everyone would die because the world needs less stupid people.
