The Ambush

It is the winter of 2018, the men and women of the UAE military are deployed to provide aid. At the Mocha Base, spirits are high as three Emirati soldiers anticipate an imminent return home. While on their final routine patrol, the three soldiers, Ali, Bilal and Hindasi are ambushed by heavily armed militants on their route, through a narrow canyon. Trapped, wounded, and out of communication range, the three soldiers realize the gravity of their situation. They are running out of options, munitions - and time. Back at the base, their commander receives word and realizes that the assault on the UAE army patrol was premeditated. A rescue mission is quickly put into action, but will air and land support reach the men in time, and will they survive?

One of the best war movies in recent memory
Gripping story. Excellent portrayal of combat tactics, equipment, etc. Very realistic. I think each of the characters was appropriately developed for this kind of movie with a lot of moving parts. You really feel for the characters, especially Ali and his family. All of the characters are believable. Loved the aerial shots with the Apache. Similar in some ways to Blackhawk Down. I liked the captain, made for a good leader, and all of the technology, e.g. Drones, I think was very realistic. Also note the American training used by these soldiers. Little doubt that's where it came from, along with the weapons. Watch it in the original language with subtitles, NOT the English dubbed version.

Manichean film where terrorists drop like flies by the dozen while we are entitled to 15 minutes of tearful melodrama for the death of a single "nice" soldier. Otherwise the film is effective as an old american action film not very fine.

    Disappointing !
The hype was unfortunately unreal, i got mixed feelings because i really wanted to like this movie but they made it really hard with bad narration, poor character building and robotic conversations, the soundtrack was horrible could've been much much better, didn't want to be harsh judging this movie but it's really a big disappointment for me.

Should've added real scenes in the ending at least.
This is the best Arabic movie I ever saw, and it's actually great for the war genre lovers. I know it's predictable but it's based on a true story so that's fine, and we don't have to talk about the directing. I loved everything, but I wanted to see some real videos or photos from the war location or the guys after the war in their country. Despite this issue, everything was great.
