    Murder, Mystery and Melodrama
Death on the Nile sails the familiar waters of classic murder mysteries, offering a melodrama woven with jealousy, romance, grudges, and gossip. Set aboard a luxurious cruise ship along the Nile River, tensions among the passengers reach their boiling point, and then... a murder! Suddenly, everyone present becomes a suspect in this whodunit.

This film not only serves as a murder mystery but also paints a relatively accurate picture of the language, culture, and social intricacies of European high society in the 1930s. However, despite its lavish visuals and the nostalgia of its old-fashioned style, this adaptation falls somewhat short compared to its predecessors. The camera whirls giddily, seemingly entranced by the sparkle and spectacle of the film, yet it can't quite conceal the fact that it's more of an empty bauble than a substantial cinematic experience. While its strengths lie in providing all the necessary clues to solve the crime, making it a rewarding experience for those keen on detective work, the film occasionally delves into long-winded dialogues, slowing down the overall narrative.

The film is also a reminder that if one accidentally stumbles upon a crucial clue that reveals the murderer's identity, it's best not to foolishly plot a blackmail scheme or loudly flaunt it to everyone, lest one ends up meeting an untimely demise without ever understanding why.

    Bad adaptation
A cast of actors that are less than convincing are working too hard to make sense of this sad adaptation of a very good Agatha Christie novel. The war explanation will not please any "real" Hercule Poirot fan. Fans that already unhappy with Kenneth Branagh, because of his previous Christie movies. After the war flashback, the opening dance scene is nothing short of ridiculous. It seems that these days, the estate of the great Agatha Christie, if they have a word to say, is ready to approve almost anything. Of course, the production is slick. Too slick, in fact. Too much money was spent to try and make spectacular a movie based on a story that is extraordinary by itself.

    The mustache mystery
So once again I was pleasantly surprised by the hercule poirot movie. You might not understand the subject, but watch the first 20 minutes and you will see it. So the first part murder in the orient express and death on nile are equally good and i would give them a 6.5 minimum. Maybe not a 7 because they are a bit gloomy and I'm used with the poirot from the 80s which was more relaxed even with a tent of funny. Well remove the funny from these ecranisations and keep a good mistery and the plot twists. I should say the possibly the ending of the orient express left me a bit more surprised than the death on nile but still the twists and turns are definitely there.

What Have They've Done To Poirot Ma
Why didn't the filmmakers of this Death on the Nile abomination have Melanie sing the songs in this movie. I mean they had Poirot come up with the secret to fool the Germans and defeat them by a gas attack, so they don't see us...... Really? Was there any, only the smallest knowledge of WW1 warfare?

Furthermore, we see Poirot at one point practicing what can almost be called martial arts and later on waving with guns. Well I gave it a chance thinking why not show another make of Poirot, just like Daniel Graig introduced a rougher kind of James Bond, but this rendition of Poirot by Kenneth Branagh, failed for me in every aspect.

Also, the movie is soaked with a kind of Blues that didn't fit the year 1937 and the vocalist uses an electric guitar that was maybe still only tried out by the inventor and definitely not widely spread at that time. Using music of the 70's or rap .... why not? Everything would be possible in this potpourri.

The movie is utterly boring. I miss the British humor there and so many aspects that make an Agatha Christie mystery for me.

After seeing this movie, I feel a need to wash away the bad taste of this Death on the Nile movie. The best way to do this is to watch the Poirot TV series again with Davis Suchet, who played Poirot magnificently and till now for me is unexcelled in his role of Poirot. The best Poirot ever.

The only thing about this movie worthwhile seeing are the magnificent shots of the Nile landscapes.

Whatever this mess is, it's not Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile
It looks pretty, that's the only the compliment I'll pay it - watching a Nile cruise is always a bit of a holiday, and the sets and costumes are well done.

For the rest... the Agatha Christie plot is drowning, the actors are miscast and some enjoyable characters have been dumped or altered in ways that don't add much, and remove considerably.

Kenneth Branagh should have stayed behind the camera and cast another Poirot - he's not good in this role. In fact, he should have stayed away from the whole project. It was misconceived. Such a pity - I wonder what he was thinking? What made him tamper with the original so much that it's become a bad film?

    So annoyed after watching this
Why? Why remake a classic when you don't understand movie-making? I have been looking for the classic one, that I haven't seen for a couple of decades, and only found the Kenneth Branagh one. I should have guessed. All packaging, no substance. I couldn't care less for any of the characters. And of course, Branagh putting himself as the Clever Guy. With a DOUBLE MOUSTACHE. What even is that? How can a story like this be made so un-exciting? How much money did this cost to make? Ok, I still need to type another 90 characters before I can post this, so I guess I will remind myself to stop watching remakes of classics.

    Death asleep on the Nile
    Movie critic: pewa_4real.

Let's start with the below average acting from all the cast except the detective. This was the biggest issue I found.

And from there the movie gets more and more bleh. First scene is useless as well as the last scene. Nothing happens.

The movie did its best to earn a 5, an average rating. The script, cinematography and the detective's performance were enough to merit an average rating.

Lots of silly accents and lots of big shot actors who didn't do this movie any justice.

Length time was my biggest issue. Could of been a better film at an hour 45.
