    Be Aware. Be Very Aware
If you want to take your emotions to extremes, if you want to experience real fear, choose "Inheritance." This film is no " Sound of Music" happy film. Rather, there are extreme plot twists that spin your emotions into a tangle, then twists them together tighter and tighter. From a death comes chaos, and far more than an ordinary one. The politics of the family, the D. A. daughter, pushed to extremes by the secret wishes of a will read in front of the group sets a foul mood for the characters. Money has real advantages but can cause us challenges. Love, though, can expand its web to extremes that one can never understand . . . Until the end.

Entertaining with a neat twisted ending.
On an otherwise boring Friday night this flick kept me awake. Long day & if I don't doze off then it is a success.

Will not keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. The movie is a bit long & there are scenes that could have been cut. For me that's ok because like my favorite books, if it keeps me interested, I don't mind the length.

I'm usually pretty good & while I just knew something was going to happen at the end. I just never saw this one. So I don't spoil it, suffice to say it gave me a warm & fuzzy feeling

All I can say is remrmber daddy's video at the beginning when he told his daughter to not let the secret out.

Intrigue , suspense movie about a sinister family secret resulting in a lot of twists and turns
The patriarch of a wealthy and powerful family suddenly passes away, and the family lawyer (Michael Beach) reads the will , leaving his daughter Lauren (Lyn Collins), a young and influential New York prosecutor , with a shocking secret inheritance and with the subsequent appearance of a mysterious man (Simon Pegg who had to lose 12 kg in weight , for 6 month , and got his body fat down) who threatens to unravel and destroy the family , including her husband (Marque Richardson) , mother (Connie Nielsen) and brother (Chace Crawford) . Some Secrets Should Stay Buried !.

An interesting and twisted thriller starring a young and pretty assistant district attorney who after the death of her father, receives the key to a mysterious underground place. Lily Collins (Mirror, mirror) stars in this thriller in which her character must deal with a dark family secret, a sudden confidence that threatens to destroy both her life and her powerful environment . Professionally directed though containing several flaws and gaps , the film also features performances by Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Mission impossible saga) , Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) , Chace Crawford (Gossip girl ) , Michael Beach , Patrick Warburton, Marque Richardson, Rebecca Adams, among others . Special mention for Simon Pegg as the very lean Morgan who steals the show in such an evil character taking him 6 months to lose weight , in fact he had to undergo a grueling exercise routine to reach the required body shape for the role.

In Inheritance (2020) highlights the luxurious and brilliant cinematography by cameraman Michael Merriman showing glamorous environments and a luxury mansion . As well as intriguing and suspenseful musical score by Marlon Espino . The motion picture was regularly directed by Vaughn Stein , with its ups and downs and although it is passable and acceptable, it packs some relapses and inconsistencies and there are aspects that are not well explained. Stein is known for You Belong to Me (2021), Terminal (2018), Yussef Is Complicated (2015) and especially Never let me go (2010). Rating : 5.5/10 . Decent but neither notable , nor extraordinary , but passable.

    This is a mess
There's one scene in 'Inheritance' where a young woman is talking to a man her father has chained up under ground and tortured for 30 years after her father had killed a young man in an alcohol and drug fueled car accident and the thing that really causes the young woman to flip out is that she learns her deceased father had a girlfriend! Idicocy like that happens over and over and over in the film. It's an absolute mess. How bad? Let's just grab some of the low hanging fruit.

The casting is way off. Way off. The heroine of our story looks to be all of 23...at the most. And yet she's a District Attorney...not an Assistant DA, she's the DA. She has a 10-year-old daughter and seems to sort of live alone despite also having a husband. Her brother might be 28 but he's a congressman. So, there's that. And the acting? Straight out of very bad soap operas. It's dreadful. Save for Simeon Pegg who almost does a good job.

The plot is rediculous on so many levels. Every three to four minutes a new hole appears in it till the viewer gets to the point where paying attention actually hurts.

Then there's the pacing shift. The early section of the film has an average shot time of about a nanosecond. It's almost nauseating. Then, out of the blue, overly long shots...for no apparent reason.... start showing up with annoying regularity.

I'll stop here. A very poor effort by all associated with this mess. But I'd be remis if I didn't point out the incredibly silly dialogue put in these struggling actor's mouths. Check out the scene where (again for no reason that has anything to do with moving the storyline along) they young heroine confronts her dead father's mistress. A translated telenovela makes more sense.

I enjoyed every moment of this
Very entertaining and beautiful to look at. It is somewhat predictable, but not to the point that you'll know what's going to happen before it does. I was hooked from the first few minutes. Not one of those movies that you can just play in the background and still keep up, if you don't pay attention it will loose you. The main character is definitely someone I will keep an eye on. She played the role so perfectly, I believe her, it felt real. As for the cinematography, I definitely love it. I don't understand how this could get so much low reviews. Is a movie I would watch again, maybe. But it's definitely one I would recommend.

The last 20 Minutes Made it Worth Watching
The movie would've been so much better, if the characters had made better decisions. The dad is the first on this list. He leaves his daughter, Lauren, an envelope filled with a flash drive & keys in his will. She immediately looks at the video on the drive. It's her dad giving cryptic clues as to a secret she must protect. He never says exactly what it is, why it happened, or how she should handle it. Apparently, the dad was afraid of prying eyes. As rich as this family was, there had to be a way to ensure his daughter had the details needed. If the dad had explained everything, none of the drama would've happened to begin with. But then we also wouldn't have a movie.

SKIP the next sections if you don't want major spoilers. The second character that made some bad choices was Lauren. She knew where to look for her dad's secret: an underground bunker out in the woods. Upon entering it, she found an older man chained to the wall by his neck. After realizing he was alive, she fled the bunker in fear. Immediately back at the house, she called 911, but hung up because this scandal would ruin her wealthy, affluent, and political family.

Slowly, and I do mean slowly, she tries to find out more about the captive (Monroe). He tells her secrets about her dad, which turn out to be true upon investigation. Lauren also has a detective searching for information on Monroe. He had been considered a missing person for 30 years. Instead of waiting on the detective to get back to her, she RELEASES Monroe. She had the family estate lawyer place 1 million in an offshore account for him, 100k in cash, & fake ID's. After Monroe is on the plane to start his new life, Lauren returns to the bunker to get rid of evidence. And guess who calls?? The detective. Monroe isn't Monroe. He's Carson, an evil psychopath. Shocker. If Lauren had only waited. She is the district attorney, but apparently her conscience overrode her brain. But honestly, that happened when she disconnected the call 911 initially.

The estate lawyer is next. He worked for Lauren's dad for numerous years. He should've known better than to do what Lauren asked without demanding to know the details. He just took her word that if they didn't help Monroe, the fallout could be bad for the family. You can probably guess that things didn't end so well for the estate lawyer.

And the final character is Monroe/Carson himself. He was given a million dollars and fake ID's. Instead of starting a new life, he went back for his pound of flesh. Since the dad was dead, this meant Lauren & her mom were the targets. The rest of the scenes are in the bunker. We find out what really happened & why the dad locked Monroe/Carson up to begin with.

The movie is a slow burn, until the last 20 minutes. I almost stopped watching, but I'm glad I finished. The last 20 made it worth ONE watch. I'm sure I'll never view it again though. I will say that the actor who played the psychopath did a great job. He was convincing in the bunker as a victim and wronged man. Then when he finally showed his true colors, that was convincing too.
