Age old story telling with great performances all round..
I enjoyed this movie for it's uniqueness and the reliance on narrative stories to move the plot along.

For the most part this film was fantastic. The two lead protagonists are engaging and interesting thanks to great acting by Tilde and Idris but it became a bit slow towards the end and I felt that the final chapters were a bit disjointed and drawn out.

The first half of the movie was much more interesting. Nevertheless it was refreshing to watch a film so invested in character and narrative and such a unique and different type of story.

I was not sure what to expect but I was very engaged throughout and the themes of love and kindness were touching and beautiful.

A good solid movie with lots to offer.

    Legendary movie
This is not one of the best movie I've ever seen it is the actual best of the movie I've ever seen if i saw a jinni now, what i will first ask is that he should erase the movie from my memory so that i can have the pleasure of watching it again ❤ the movie is so full passion and information not only is it interesting, it is also educative, i can't wait to share it with my friends and family or infant anyone i see, this is the kind of movie that is supposed to be sponsored the most not all the movie that speak no science or anything important that are unfortunately the most common among us ❤❤❤🗺

Lovely way to spend a few hours
I love both Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba so it was an easy choice to watch. I live alone, somewhat academic and seemingly boring so I could relate some of what she was feeling. Her turn of feeling was too quick in my view, but on the whole the movie was lovely visually, and the stories were interesting and lovely. I did like the narrative of "stories" as a way to explain things (as religion does) and science as at least part an answer. His stories broke down her wall of isolation and broke open her desire to love and be loved. For me it was personal, I don't think I want to find love again (I'm 63) and that is either from a true lack of desire or one in which is derived as a wall to protect me, I don't know. I think humans all long for acceptance and ultimately love but few find it for a life time. After watching the movie I felt glad that I watched it, and somewhat moved by the thoughts and experience.

    Unexpectedly beautiful fairy tale
The trailer almost put me off watching this movie: it seemed packed with action, noise, fighting and general over the top everything.

In reality, the movie had a much slower pace, with great visuals and gripping story telling, as well as lovely conversation between Alithea and the Djinn.

The movie does feel choppy in places, sometimes abruptly jumping from one mood / place to another, and leaving some parts insufficiently explored.

In the end, even though the execution was not flawless, I felt the story was so beautiful that it doesn't merit anything less than a 10/10. We need more stories like this in cinema and in our lives.

    A genie love story.
    A genie love story.

I expected so much more, this movie was terrible, there was no special effects. They had some smoke when he appeared out of the bottle. But it was too long for what it and it was terrible. I don't know how all you people are giving us 8/9/10. It was boring drawn out never again. I wish I would've rub the bottle and not rented this. The end.

Most of the stories about Chinese talk about the anger that they've built up over the years and the first thousand years they would reward the person that freed them in the next thousand years they would think of tortures for that person and destroy them and have their revenge. They had their revenge all right they talked me into watching this crud.

The visuals are all there, the deep story got sabotaged
Stop giving money and decisions to evil doers or psychopaths - I followed the movie and several "notes" sounded so out of place, so fake, that I thought "they must have taken a meaningful story and put it into a film, with the wrong people in charge of the operation".

I was right, the seemingly small alterations.make.huge differences and take the story into a whole different direction.

Starting with changing the caracter's name, then with implying the woman is infertile, then simply the "eye" through which the tales are presented. It is one thing to observe the oriental debauchery and decadence with no emotional take part in it, and another to lavish in a gross depiction of said traits, which plagued and crashed empire after empire.

The same element can be natural and in place or it can be smeared by a sick approach.

Why do they try to misrepresent literature works, history elements and many other things, from natural into bleurgh?!

Get other people to understand stories properly and not ruin them with their approach! All the decorum and the actors efforts, for.nothing!
